‘Climb with Charlie’ at Mount Melleray – April 2nd

Registration has now opened for the Mount Melleray ‘Climb With Charlie’ event on Saturday April 2nd. Mount Melleray Abbey will host the event, which is being run by the Knockmealdown Active volunteer organisation.

Climb with Charlie at Mount Melleray

This event will coincide with nationwide fundraising events initiated by former RTE reporter, Charlie Bird. All funds raised go directly to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta.

Registration and donation for the event has now opened https://bit.ly/3IEp8Gm. There is no set fee for the event, but a minimum donation of €10 is suggested. There will be donation boxes in Mount Melleray on the day for those who wish to add funds. Climb with Charlie, April 2nd

The event is a 12km mountain looped walk which will take place from the Abbey, where there is ample parking. Check-in is from 9.30am with the walk starting at 10am. Anybody wishing to take part should bring good walking shoes or boots, weather-proof clothing, water and a fully charged mobile phone.

The overall ascent for this event is approximately 350m and it should take average walkers about three hours to complete.

Any extra costs incurred by the event will be covered by Knockmealdown Active, so that all funds raised will go directly to the charities.

Note: Dogs or other pets are not allowed on the walk. Unfortunately, we do not have insurance to cater for them.

This is an over 16’s event. The route is not suitable for pushchairs, it is much too rough.
