Shanrahan in Samuel Lewis’ 1837 Topical Dictionary of Ireland Shanbally Castle, referred to in the text, was demolished by the government in 1960. The Waterford Mountains referenced are the Knockmealdown Mountains on the Tipperary Waterford border around which this site is based.
